Who is responsible for the shipping charge after order cancellation?

General Cases:

  • Cancellation before shipment:
  1. If the customer cancels the order prior to dispatch, no shipping charges are applicable. Neither the retailer (seller) nor the platform incurs any cost.
  • Cancellation after shipment:
  1. If the order has already been dispatched and the customer cancels (including refusal of delivery, COD rejection, or cancellation of a prepaid order after dispatch), the applicable forward shipping charges along with reverse logistics (return shipping) are generally borne by the retailer (seller). Such charges are deducted by the e-commerce platform from the seller’s payout.
  • Cancellation/return due to product or platform-related issues:
  1. In cases where the return or cancellation occurs due to product defects, damage, incorrect items, or an error attributable to the platform, the shipping and reverse logistics charges are typically borne by the platform instead of the seller.
